Infernal Demons have the deepest published lore of any race in Scars of Honor, and it is unusually specific: they are immortals whose immortality is sustained by consuming human souls, hunting an artefact called the Soul Ring that would raise them to the level of gods. They were playable in the 30 April – 11 May 2026 technical alpha and were identified as the most-played race of the last public test. They also share an origin with the Sun Elves, who renounced it.

Who the Infernal Demons are — lore and place in the world

The demons' own account of themselves begins with the soul. It is described as both the source of their immortality and the cause of a burning hunger — a foundational condition of their existence rather than mere cruelty. They have hunted humans since the dawn of their creation, feeding on pain, torment and souls, and the sources frame that immortality as blessing and curse together.

The metaphysics give the hunt a mechanism. Souls cannot simply be stored: human bodies are described as vessels made by the gods for that purpose, which ties the demons' interest in humanity directly to the structure of the setting rather than to appetite alone. Humanity is not a target of opportunity; it is the only available container.

The Soul Ring is the infernal side's central objective. Its awakening is said not merely to restore or activate its power but to elevate the demons to equality with the gods. Lady Gora and Lord Centers are named among the figures involved in the search for greater power, and the infernal king and queen are described as willing to undergo a sacrifice connected to it.

The Infernal Seal is the setting's most distinctive demonic ritual: a binding that splits two demons in half and fuses the parts together, one half remaining outside and the other inside, creating a linked existence. The result is expressed as two hearts beating as one, two minds thinking as one, and two infernal flames burning far stronger together than apart.

The war reads differently from each side. Human armies are described marching into the dark desert on a holy crusade to destroy the infernal side; from the demons' perspective that invasion is not a righteous campaign but an opportunity — a feast for the Infernal Empire and for the Soul Ring.

The Sun Elves come from the same origin and turned away from it, which makes the Sacred Order's solar race and Domination's demons estranged relatives rather than natural enemies.

Racial bonuses and passives

No racial bonus has been published for Infernal Demons, and none has been published for any race — the racial-traits system is undecided.

In December 2025 the developers described traits as still under internal discussion rather than removed, and explained their absence from the redesigned website as a consequence of that debate. The objection stated was the interaction with a roughly 300-node talent tree, where flat percentage racial bonuses could compound into something disproportionately strong. The argument in favour was that race should carry gameplay weight beyond appearance. Designers were described as split; nothing was decided.

The April 2026 community Q&A gave the same answer: traits are under internal design debate, the dominant worry is that over-tuning turns race into a stat choice rather than an identity choice, and if traits ship they are unlikely to be game-breaking or highly impactful. No final decision was locked.

This race carries the one concrete historical example in the discussion. When players debated racial passives in March 2026, they cited a demon bonus against humans that existed in earlier versions of the game as precisely the kind of trait that distorts faction choice — a bonus that makes one side's players stronger against the other's rewards picking a side for the wrong reason. It appears in the sources as a cautionary precedent, not as a planned feature. Given the lore, a soul-related mechanic would be the natural fit for this race, and none has been announced.

Which classes they can play

The list below is the Domination class pool from the game client data behind this site's gear planner. It differs from the Sacred Order set in three slots: Necromancer, Mystic and Pirate instead of Druid, Priest and Paladin. All four Domination races carry it identically.

That Priest omission produced the sharpest race/class argument of the alpha era. Players who had built a character fantasy around an Infernal healer discovered there was no Infernal Priest on the board, and the objection they raised was one of internal consistency rather than preference: if Infernals can be Paladins, why not Priests? The same question ran in the other direction too — players noted that if the lore says undead cannot be priests, it needs to explain why infernal demons can be paladins.

The list should be read as provisional. Official April 2026 messaging presented a full race × class availability matrix as the current plan for early access and likely 1.0, while stating that the matrix is subject to change. A chart circulating in March 2026 was withdrawn after the developers said it did not reflect the latest setup, and in late April they said combinations were still being adjusted in response to feedback. When Bearan and Gronthar joined the roster for the playtest, both factions were said to gain access to all available classes.

On class fit rather than availability, the Druid caster form was described in June 2025 as potentially working particularly well on Human and Infernal Demon characters — while a separate November 2025 discussion listed inferno demons among the poorer overall matches for druid.

Where our planner disagrees

The planner also offers: Warrior.

The planner is missing: Paladin.

Our gear planner stores one class list per faction rather than per race, so it disagrees with the official site for seven of the eight races. The list above is the official one; the planner is what needs fixing.

How they look — appearance and customisation

Infernal Demons were singled out in October 2024 as one of the races receiving especially close attention in the customisation rebuild. The options shown included varied skin tones, race-specific tattoos, scars, jewellery and hairstyles, and the race's body shell or outer surface was described as having its own colour treatment tied to the character's appearance — a layer the other races do not have.

The stated intent is to make Infernal Demons feel visually distinctive to Scars of Honor rather than generic demon archetypes. In practice the closest external comparison the developers drew was to tieflings, mentioned while discussing another game's character creation.

Horns are the race's defining design feature, and their importance is best demonstrated by what they cost another race: horns were explicitly rejected for the Sun Elves in March 2026 specifically because the feature would overlap too strongly with the demon design language. The demons own that silhouette.

Community reception has been consistently positive on the concept art and consistently cautious about the models. In March 2026 players pointed each other toward the official site's concept art, admiring the "pretty infernals" shown there, with an important qualifier attached: the in-game models shown so far are not finished, and the community had not yet seen the full spread of hairstyles or face options expected at launch. Enthusiasm for the female designs was noted alongside hope that the in-game models would eventually match the concept pieces once customisation was fully shown. By late April players committing to the race were asking for better face options first, and for character creation that avoids locking them into a red-heavy palette.

The general rules apply: facial variation, hairstyles, beards and scars are planned, additional ethnicity variations were in development as of March 2026, and full slider-based body customisation is not favoured because unrestricted body scaling creates armour-fitting problems.

What is still unknown

The in-game demon models were described as unfinished, and the full range of hairstyles and face options expected at launch has not been shown — the concept art players admire is not the same thing as the shipped model. Whether Infernal Demons gain access to Priest is unresolved, and the lore reason for their having Paladin but not Priest has not been explained. No racial passive exists for this or any race; the historical demon bonus against humans is cited as a cautionary precedent from an earlier version, not as a plan. Lady Gora and Lord Centers are named but their roles are not detailed. There is no announced release date; early access is estimated for Q1 2027 with nothing official behind it.
