Scars of Honor FAQ

Scars of Honor is an unreleased free-to-play MMORPG from Beast Burst Entertainment, and most of what people want to know about it is either unannounced or scattered across a Steam listing, a developer blog and two years of streams. This page answers the questions that actually get asked, links each answer to the page that covers it properly, and says plainly when the honest answer is that nobody has announced it yet.

The short version

Scars of Honor (SoH) is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG in development at Beast Burst Entertainment. It is set on the war-torn continent of Aragon, where two alliances — the Sacred Order and the Domination — fight while an ancient Ice Dragon stirs in the frozen North. It ran its first public technical alpha on Steam from 30 April to 11 May 2026, drawing players from 165 countries.

It has no release date. The studio's position as of July 2026 is that the game ships when it is ready, and a 2026 launch has been ruled out. Early Access is estimated at Q1 2027 in the most recent material we have, but no official date has ever been announced and the target has already moved more than once.

Where these answers come from

Every answer here rests on one of four things: the official Steam store listing, a post on the developer's own site, one of the knowledge-base articles built from official stream captions, or one of the community digests recorded from the Discord.

Where those disagree — and on platforms they frequently do, because a 2024 plan and a 2026 plan are different documents — this site keeps both and dates them rather than quietly deleting the older one. That is why several answers below read "this was true, and then it changed".

Common questions

Is Scars of Honor free to play?

Yes. Beast Burst has described it as free-to-play in every recorded statement on the subject, with no box price and no mandatory subscription, and the Steam listing carries the Free to Play tag. The stated reasoning is population: an MMO needs people in it, and an entry fee keeps them out. Planned revenue is cosmetic and convenience — skins, battle passes and an optional appearance subscription that removes limits on transmog changes.

When does Scars of Honor release?

There is no release date. As of July 2026 the developers' position is that the game releases when it is ready, and a 2026 launch has been ruled out. Early Access is estimated at Q1 2027 in the most recent material, and it has already been pushed back more than once. The full dated record of every timing statement is on the release date page.

Is there a Scars of Honor mobile version?

Not now, and not soon. On 13 February 2026 Beast Burst published a PC Focus Update postponing the mobile version indefinitely so the team could finish the PC game first. It was explicitly not cancelled — the studio wrote that this does not mean they are cancelling mobile, and that it remains part of their long-term vision. No timeframe was attached. The mobile page has the full chronology.

How do I join the Scars of Honor playtest?

Through Steam. Access to the April–May 2026 technical alpha was requested on the Steam store page and granted in waves by email and Steam notification; more than 110 000 requests came in before it opened. There is no request-access button on the store page at the time of writing and no date for the next test. See the playtest page for what was playable and how access worked.

What classes are in Scars of Honor?

Ten are documented: Warrior, Paladin, Ranger, Mage, Druid, Priest, Assassin, Necromancer, Mystic and Pirate. Only four — Mage, Paladin, Druid and Ranger — were playable in the April–May 2026 alpha, where Mage was the most-picked class with Paladin close behind. Each class has a talent tree measured in the hundreds of nodes. See the class hub.

What races and factions are there?

Two factions at war: the Sacred Order and the Domination. Eight races are documented between them — Human, Sun Elf, Dwarf and Bearan on one side, Orc, Infernal Demon, Undead and Gronthar on the other. Six were selectable in the 2026 alpha, where the Sacred Order was the most-chosen faction. See the races pages.

Is Scars of Honor pay-to-win?

The developers say no, repeatedly and specifically: power, progression and access are not to be sold. A proposed paid backpack-space feature was dropped after players called it pay-to-win, and the studio says it has turned down investment that would have required changing that position. None of this is verifiable until a shop exists, so treat it as a stated commitment rather than a tested one.

What engine does Scars of Honor use?

The client is built in Unity, chosen years ago partly for hiring and for mobile support, before the current Unreal Engine 5 era. The server is not Unity: it runs on an in-house C++ engine the studio calls Vibranium, built for MMO-scale concurrency and holding world state authoritatively. No Unity version or render pipeline has ever been named publicly.

What are the Scars of Honor system requirements?

Steam lists a minimum specification only: Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel I5 4690 / AMD FX 8350 / Snapdragon X Elite, 8 GB RAM, an Nvidia GTX 970 / RX 480 / Intel Arc A380 / Qualcomm Adreno X1 with 4 GB or more of VRAM, and DirectX 11. There is no recommended column and no storage figure. The system requirements page quotes the listing and explains what it does and does not tell you.

Does Scars of Honor have controller support?

Not as of the 2026 technical alpha, which was keyboard and mouse. The Steam listing carries no controller-support entry among its features. Community relays of the developer FAQ say controller support is on the list but not committed to, and that there is no official Steam Deck support at first, though community controller profiles may make it playable.

Will Scars of Honor have crossplay?

It was the plan while mobile was the plan: one shared world, shared progress, PC and mobile players together with only the controls differing. Since the February 2026 PC-focus pivot, nobody has restated it. With mobile postponed indefinitely, treat PC-to-mobile crossplay as an unconfirmed plan from a superseded era rather than a promised feature.

What PvP does Scars of Honor have?

Duels and party duels, a 5v5 battleground, arena in several formats, and faction-based open-world PvP between the Sacred Order and the Domination. The April–May 2026 alpha recorded more than 100 000 PvP kills across its twelve days. The PvP page separates what has been played from what is still a design draft.

Is Scars of Honor on Steam?

Yes — app 4253010, with Beast Burst Entertainment listed as both developer and publisher and the release date field set to To be announced. Windows is the only platform icon; no Mac or Linux build is listed. Nine languages are listed, and Ukrainian is not currently among them.

What is FirstWatch?

A tester programme announced on 18 July 2026 for players who want to give feedback while features are still flexible: testing prototypes, completing surveys, joining team discussions and sitting for interviews. It grew directly out of the roughly 12 000 feedback reports the technical alpha generated. See the FirstWatch page.

Is Scars of Honor just a mobile game ported to PC?

No, and the developers have pushed back on this specifically. The February 2026 PC Focus Update says the art direction and graphic style were never chosen because of mobile but are intentional artistic decisions, and the design line since 2025 has been that this is a PC game ported to mobile rather than the reverse. The stylised look is repeatedly justified as a way to keep hardware requirements low.

What is still unknown

No release date, no Early Access date and no date for the next playtest. The Steam listing has a minimum specification but no recommended one and no storage figure, and no Mac, Linux or console build is listed anywhere. Nothing official covers controller support or Steam Deck verification, and nothing published since February 2026 says whether PC-to-mobile crossplay survives the PC-focus pivot.

The class and race rosters have been shown but never confirmed as final, no arena rating or ranked system has ever been described, and no shop has existed for anyone to test the no-pay-to-win commitment against. When any of that changes, this page changes with it — the date it was last checked against its sources is at the bottom.
