Old-build PvP test and balance caveats
A live PvP session is conducted on an older internal build of Scars of Honor, identified as the version released in the previous year and later described more specifically as an October 2024 build. The session is presented as a temporary community play opportunity rather than a representation of the current development state or the planned public test later in the year.
The build is repeatedly characterized as outdated. Several issues seen during play are treated as already known or already improved in newer work. Reported problems include less responsive character movement, clunky controls, camera-follow behavior that is not yet configurable, fullscreen and window-mode bugs, missing collision in at least one area, and an instance where a basic attack input stops functioning. These are framed as limitations of the old test build rather than the intended final feel.
Purpose of the session
The session functions as a community stress and gameplay test focused on PvP. Multiple matches run in parallel, with roughly 60 players mentioned at one point. The build remains available after the stream so players can continue using it for the rest of the night.
The older build is also used as a comparison point for future testing. Players are told they will be able to compare the current experience with the newer build planned for the end-of-year public test.
Combat feel and known issues
Combat in the old build is described as functional but not representative of the newer version. Specific shortcomings mentioned during play include:
- character movement that does not feel sufficiently snappy;
- controls that feel clunky;
- camera behavior that does not automatically follow turns in the desired way;
- latency-sensitive or delayed-feeling ability execution for some players;
- occasional glitches and bugs during combat;
- at least one case of an ability or auto-attack becoming unusable.
Line-of-sight behavior is nevertheless noted as working in the build, even during ranged combat around terrain.
Balance observations during the test
The session includes frequent informal balance observations. Ranged classes, especially mages and rangers, are repeatedly described as very strong in this build. Mage damage is called out several times as unusually high, with Phoenix Blast and Fire Barrage standing out as dangerous tools. Ranger kiting, slows, and silence are also described as highly effective.
The imbalance is explicitly tied to the age of the build. Comments about class strength are not presented as final tuning targets. Players are told that the upcoming build will be updated and that balance and feel are expected to differ.
End-of-year test direction
The planned public test at the end of the year is described as separate from this PvP build. Its main gameplay focus is said to be PvE dungeons rather than this battleground-only environment. The newer build is also expected to include broader updates to combat feel, settings, visuals, and class implementation.
Regional latency and test infrastructure
The session uses a European server, which creates higher latency for some players connecting from Brazil and other distant regions. A dedicated Brazilian server is mentioned as a target for the next public test. The host also notes that local latency from Bulgaria to the Netherlands-based servers is relatively low.
Overall, the session presents the old build as a rough but playable test environment useful for community participation, bug exposure, and broad balance impressions, while emphasizing that newer internal work has already moved beyond many of its visible issues.
