Cosmetic monetization and the rejection of extra bag space

The monetization stance presented here centers on a strict rejection of features that could be argued to provide gameplay advantage. A specific example is the removal of purchasable extra bag space after community debate over whether it constituted pay-to-win.

Removal of extra bag space

Extra bag space is stated to be no longer planned as a purchasable feature in Scars of Honor. The reason given is that even partial community concern about pay-to-win is enough to disqualify the feature.

The position is framed as a final stance: if a feature can be credibly shown to create gameplay advantage through payment, it does not belong in the game.

Optional cosmetic subscription

In place of bag-space monetization, an optional cosmetic subscription is proposed. This subscription is described as granting appearance points used to change the appearance of items.

The same subscription is also intended to support later cosmetic character-editing options such as hairstyle and beard adjustments. Additional body-shape sliders are discussed as a possible feature for subscribers, including minor changes such as being slightly taller or shorter or adjusting shoulder emphasis.

Cosmetic-only boundary

These subscription benefits are explicitly framed as visual-only changes. The stated goal is to preserve a clear line between monetized customization and gameplay power.

The same philosophy is applied to armor presentation more broadly: visually strong gear is not meant to exist only in the cash shop, while paid options focus on appearance management rather than combat or progression advantage.
