Faction war and PvP structure
PvP is presented as an important part of Scars of Honor, but not the sole focus of the game. The developers describe a world in which factions are in constant conflict and where battleground events and skirmishes occur across zones.
Open-world faction conflict
Faction war is described as a major world system. Players may move between zones depending on which battleground event is active, and the studio says these conflicts happen in the open world rather than only in instanced modes.
The developers also say they want to avoid griefing. Their draft design includes three PvP options: a non-opt-in mode with no PvP exposure, a practice mode where players can participate without losing anything, and a high-stakes mode with consequences on death.
Territory and rewards
PvP-focused players are described as being able to level through skirmishes, earn honor, and participate in faction-led conflict. The studio also says faction wars may have territory consequences, with winning or losing affecting control of land.
PvP alongside other playstyles
The developers emphasize that PvP is one of several mastery paths in the game. Players can focus on PvP, PvE, gathering, crafting, or other activities and still remain relevant in the wider world.
