Battleground concepts and PvP test-build limitations
The discussion covers both older battleground concepts and the limitations of the previously playable PvP build. The game is described as having more than one battleground in development history, with Morning Pass identified as the second battleground created for Scars of Honor.
An earlier battleground concept centered on capturing altars. In that design, teams would bring a lion head to a specific altar when it became unlocked in order to score points.
Earlier battleground concept
The altar-based battleground concept appears to have influenced some environment props later shown in the art previews. A generic altar asset is said to derive from that earlier mode idea.
Although footage of the old battleground is not shown, it is described as part of the game's earlier PvP experimentation before Morning Pass.
Morning Pass and current rules
Morning Pass is identified as an existing battleground with rules that remain largely the same in the next iteration. The next version is said to retain the battleground structure while adding many new spells and abilities for the classes already present, along with additional classes.
A specific issue is noted with chest spawns. Because chest respawns can occur very close to a player, luck can create an outsized advantage. This is treated as a battleground flaw that needs a small rules or map tweak in the next version.
Repeated PvP-only exposure
The previously streamed playable build is described as an outdated version from the prior year. It is also characterized as primarily a PvP mode rather than a representative slice of the full MMORPG.
This creates a risk of players forming the wrong impression of the game if the same build is shown repeatedly. The concern is that viewers may mistake the limited PvP test for the full intended scope of Scars of Honor.
Arena footage and PvP direction
Arena footage is mentioned separately from the battleground test, indicating that structured arena PvP exists as a distinct feature from battleground play. The speaker treats arenas as a major destination for competitive players.
The next public test is described as much broader than the earlier PvP showcase, with the expectation that it will present a more complete MMORPG rather than a narrowly focused combat demo.
