Class showcase: Paladin, Mage, Ranger, and Druid

The showcase highlights four classes as examples of Scars of Honor's current combat direction: Paladin, Mage, Ranger, and Druid. The presentation emphasizes role flexibility, talent-driven specialization, and class mechanics that can support multiple combat identities.

Paladin

The Paladin is introduced as the renamed version of the former Knight. It is described as a versatile frontline class that can function as a tank, damage dealer, support, or a hybrid between those roles.

A major addition is the shield mechanic, which allows the Paladin to actively block incoming projectiles for a limited time. This is presented as a way to create defensive moments for the team, especially against ranged attacks such as mage spells or ranger shots. The class also includes mobility and impact through Leap of Judgment, along with defensive tools that provide armor and healing support to allies.

The intended class identity is that of a melee protector who can hold the line, with future talent archetypes planned to support both heavy defensive builds and more aggressive holy-warrior styles.

Mage

The Mage is presented as an aggressive caster with multiple possible paths. One path, the Wizard, focuses on ranged combat with wands and elemental power delivered through a smoother and faster combat flow. Another path, the Battlemage, moves into the front line with staff and sword while using barriers and defensive tools. A third direction involves cosmic magic, including space control and black-hole effects.

The class is described as capable of combining sustained or burst damage, single-target or area damage, and heavy crowd control. It can also become tank-like through energy shields generated from dealing damage. The showcase segment, however, focuses mainly on the damage-dealing and control aspects.

Elemental options mentioned include cosmic, fire, ice, and lightning magic. A black hole ability is specifically described as pulling nearby enemies together to set up follow-up attacks.

Ranger

The Ranger is framed as a highly tactical long-range class built around mobility, spacing, and control. Its strength lies in staying out of reach while wearing enemies down with shots, traps, and gadgets.

The class is described as fragile compared with many other classes, making positioning and timing especially important. Rather than trading damage directly, the Ranger is intended to outmaneuver opponents and control engagements.

Utility tools include silence and immobilization effects. A new mechanical turret is also highlighted; it can be placed as a stationary gadget that automatically fires energy bolts at enemies in line of sight. Rangers are described as primarily damage dealers with supportive utility for allies when needed.

Druid

The Druid is presented as one of the most versatile classes in the game, with the ability to cover the full "holy trinity" of healer, damage dealer, and tank. The class can follow a caster-oriented route, command animal allies in melee-oriented play, or use shapeshifting to become large beasts with distinct combat abilities.

The current showcase focuses on healing and support. A central class mechanic is spores. When applied to enemies, spores deal damage over time; when applied to allies, they heal instead. Both effects scale with the number of stacks applied.

The Druid's basic attack is described as a three-hit combo that damages enemies and applies one stack of spores, while also functioning as a heal when used on friendly targets. Shapeshifting remains a major part of the class identity, allowing transformation into a dangerous creature with its own attacks.

Class design direction

Across all four classes, the design direction favors role flexibility and build expression over rigid specialization. The showcase repeatedly ties class identity to talents and scars, suggesting that final play style depends not only on the base kit but also on progression choices.
