Visual overhaul of races, armor, and world art
Scars of Honor presents a broad visual overhaul covering playable races, armor, creatures, NPCs, and environmental presentation. The redesign aims for a more consistent and contemporary style while preserving elements associated with classic MMORPG visuals. The updated art direction is also described as being more closely tied to the game's lore, so that each race and faction reads more clearly within the world of Aragon.
The showcase frames these changes as part of a larger push in 2025 to improve both fidelity and coherence across the game.
Character and race redesign
Character models are reworked to achieve a unified style across the roster. The revised approach emphasizes clearer silhouettes, improved materials, and stronger visual links between races and the setting's lore. Armor sets are also rebuilt, with class identity playing a larger role in how equipment appears.
Character creation is described as receiving major improvements, though the captions do not provide a full feature breakdown. The emphasis is on more polished race visuals and greater customization through the reworked armor system.
Armor, creatures, and animation updates
Armor receives a full system rework intended to support more varied gear and deeper customization. Equipment visuals are said to be more strongly connected to the player's chosen class.
Creatures and NPCs are likewise reworked to match the new style. They receive updated animations and visual effects, and the presentation highlights sharper silhouettes and more believable materials for characters, creatures, and weapons.
All character animations are reviewed and polished to better fit the updated models. The stated goal is not only higher fidelity but also a stronger sense that armor, weapons, and creature designs belong to the same world.
Environment art and zone building
Environment work includes retheming existing areas, adjusting layouts, and adding more subzones for exploration. Textures and materials are upgraded, and shaders are polished to make environments appear sharper and more alive while retaining the game's established visual charm.
The world-building pipeline combines procedural and hand-crafted methods. Procedural tools are used to build large natural spaces such as forests, fields, and mountains, while cities and villages are assembled by hand so that each location remains distinct and recognizable.
One named area shown is Onos Fall, described as a battlefield where humans and undead have clashed for a long time. The undead presence is said to visibly distort the land and especially its flora.
Rendering, atmosphere, and immersion
On the technical side, character and NPC shaders are improved to better represent materials such as skin and metal without abandoning stylization. Skyboxes and fog are also upgraded to make environments more immersive.
The overall visual direction is presented as a balance between modern rendering techniques and the familiar readability of older MMORPGs. The intended result is a world that feels more atmospheric while still supporting clear gameplay presentation.
